An introduction to Aloni Apartments
The lovely sandy beaches of Stavros, Tersanas and Kalathas are all just a few minutes' drive away, and the gorgeous old Venetian town of Chania can be reached by car in little more than 25 minutes. Aloni comprises 16 apartments of varying sizes, divided between four attractively-designed buildings that stand on a gentle hill with pretty plants in terracotta pithoi scattered about. The apartments stand majestically among their simple background. Each apartment has a spacious living-dining room with a modern and well-equipped open plan kitchen, a bath or shower room (some are compact) and some have an additional cloakroom.
There is a choice of apartments with two or three bedrooms, and each has a terrace or balcony (the larger apartments have several), most with magnificent views towards the sea (as all the accommodation is west-facing, the views are especially magical when the sun sets). The majority of apartments benefit from air-conditioning and an internet telephone connection point. The accommodation may be impressive, but what really sets Aloni apart is the range of leisure facilities that you would normally only expect to find in a large hotel. In addition to the large outdoor swimming pool, there is a fitness centre comprising a small indoor swimming pool, a sauna and whirlpool bath, a gym and a games room.
The reception area incorporates a TV room. Please note that there will be a charge (payable locally) for use of the sauna, steam room and pool tables. With so much to do, you and your offspring are bound to work up an appetite. If you enjoy trying out different local tavernas, there are plenty of delightfully unpretentious eateries dotted around the Akrotiri peninsula. However, if you prefer to eat at home (in order to keep an eye or ear on young children, for example), you needn't necessarily use your own kitchen, for Aloni's poolside cafe-bar also offers tempting snacks, homemade dishes, and salads throughout the day.

The Aloni appartments are so good, clean, child friendly, adult friendly and peaceful we have just booked again for July 2007. The appartments are only 10-15mins from the airport but when you are there you would never know the airport is just down the... more on this review
